Parents should caress or hug the child as much as 4-12 times a day. Caress and hug is one of the six pillars of positive parenting that are important for child development. Caress or hug the child four times a day is important for survival, eight times for maintenance of body systems, and 12 times for the growth of children. Hugs and caresses can be done spontaneously, when the morning after waking, noon, afternoon, even the night before bed.
When caressing or embracing, the body will release the hormone oxytocin. This hormone helps increase endurance, making the body more healthy because the body feels loved, accepted, appreciated also will support the growth and development more conducive. In addition to caress or hug, parents also need to communicate and play with the children. Encourage children to talk about everything that caught his attention.
